I am a PhD student in Applied Mathematics at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), advised by Prof. Francesco Orabona.

My research interests are online learning theory, uncertainty quantification, and optimization. Much of my recent work is on conformal prediction under (arbitrary) distribution shifts and sequential testing. Algorithmically speaking, I focus on building methods with provable guarantees, and that need no hyperparameter tuning (see parameter-free machine learning). With such a goal in mind, the methodology relies heavily on tools from coin betting and portfolio algorithms. I also work on analysis (and design) of stochastic optimization methods. Of course, I inherit a (large) ambient background from my advisor :), and have a natural interest in theoretical aspects of online learning (bandits, min-max problems, you name it).

Before my PhD, I received an MS in Applied Mathematics from KAUST, where I worked with Prof. David Ketcheson on explicit Runge–Kutta methods for quadratic optimization (although a bit niche, I really like the theory I built). Before that, I earned a BS in Geophysics from the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech), where my research focused on seismic tomography (inverse problems).

Outside of research, I enjoy Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, drumming, and cooking.
